We had a handy young friend come over and install a couple of new faucets in our master suite’s vanity area a few days ago.
When he got finished he noticed that one of the ancient shutoff valves was leaking, but that wasn’t really his area of expertise, so he didn’t want to mess with it.
“I can do that, no problem!” said I.
You should know that of all the odd jobs there are to do around the house plumbing has always been my Kryptonite.
Long ago in another house in a different city I was working under a bathroom sink when my wrench slipped and I barked my knuckles so badly I actually lost consciousness for a few seconds. I came to sitting up and banging the wrench onto the linoleum floor so hard it punctured the linoleum in several places.
We just put a rug over it and let the new owners deal with it when we sold the house.
So, I should have known better than to take this on. I’m at least thirty years older and nowhere near as flexible as I was.
This video is about 5 minutes long, but it covers about four hours of increasing frustration that ended with all the water to the house shut off until a plumber could come and rescue us the next day.2
Watch for the moment I realize that I hadn’t actually turned off the water to the house.
Musical Coda. This is what I was aiming for when I created the music for the video at https://www.udio.com/

My evil plan to get so incompetent I don’t need to work around the house is working! Bwah Ha Ha Ha Ha!
Haha, plumbing is my wordt nightmare, mainly cause I don't have the strength to tighten those da**ed joints enough. And also insurance won't cover f-ups...
