I took last week off to enjoy meeting up with about 100 of my closest friends in Las Vegas. Had a great time, thank you for asking.
Today I sat down with the information I’d received from the Radiation Oncologist, some emails from a friend who’s been through treatment for prostate cancer, and had a conversation with my brother, who had his prostate removed about 17 years ago due to cancer.
Oy! So many things to think about. So much research left to do!
First off, it’s possible the two biopsies and the MRI I’ve already had may have missed some cancer that’s already spread from my prostate. My friend recommended that I ask about a PSMA PET scan, which may do a better job of detecting cancer that has left the prostate.
This friend opted for radioactive seeds embedded in the prostate. This treatment has fallen out of favor. It isn’t very effective in avoiding recurrence, and you need to be careful …
